UN DAY

Design, Strategy

It’s my UN

On November 26, 2019, Albania was struck by a strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake that killed a total of 51 people, with about 3,000 injured. This was the deadliest earthquake in 99 years for the country and the world’s deadliest earthquake in 2019. It devastated the country on many levels.

Together with the UN RCO team, we designed a strategic approach to the entire events for the UN DAY. The approach was to “Showcase the values that fuel our humanity and their amplifying role in connecting with each other in difficult times”.

The UN Day 2020 was designed as a one-day event, packed with different activities that would resonate with the strategic approach and the UN guidelines while reaching different target audiences. Throughout the comms channels, there were teasers of the events, which built up to the UN DAY, October 24th of 2020. Some of the activations are listed below:

Activation Nr. 1The Unsung heroes / Three videos showcasing the heroes at the frontline of the Earthquake and COVID-19, sharing their personal stories with the audience.

Activation Nr. 2United We Stand! Watching together online the UN documentary “Nations United: Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times”. People were invited throughout the entire week to attend.

Activation Nr. 3The circle of Hope. We organized on October 22nd an online event with kids and their parents, where through the coaching of a local artist, they were asked to show their emotions and experiences by drawing.

Another activation that we worked on with the UN team in Albania was the creation of inspirational social media content for a younger audience. Thanks to their chain of youth organizations, we organized a photo-shooting session with some of their younger activists. The photos were taken by the famous Albanian photographer Bevis Fusha. They were asked to express their feelings for the future through the photographer’s lens. The BW images were used for a later campaign too.
